A campaign created in response to a D&AD New Blood Brief. MUBI is an online streaming service that showcases independent and award winning movies. The brand needed an advertising campaign idea to help increase sign-ups for their online service and to push brand awareness. The online Mubi streaming service is very similar to how traditional movie cinemas operate. Mubi introduces a new movie to its subscribers every day, and it’s available on the site for the theatrical equivalent of a limited run. After 30 days, it’s gone. My campaign concept was to use the recognisable image of cinema tickets and names of renowned movies to grab the attention of cinema lovers.

Over 15 different cinema tickets were designed and individually screen printed to use as core visuals for the campaign. The cinema tickets were created to replicate well known UK cinema brands such as Odeon, Vue, and Cineworld. The designs were altered to include Mubi branding and content to relate to their online subscription service. Imperfections such as rips, tears and fades in the print were incorporated to best imitate cinema ticket receipts.

A variety of film names shown on the Mubi site were used throughout the campaign, from big name classics to smaller independent masterpieces. Mubi believes in making all great film sit on the same pedestal, regardless of the overall popularity, big starring actors or box office numbers.
